Getting started
Do I need a consultation before booking an evaluation?
Not always. Clear requests for a psychological evaluation can proceed toward scheduling after basic service, location, records and conflict checks. Attorney referrals use the same checks and do not routinely need a consultation. If you're unsure what you need, records are missing, or your request needs clarification, start with a free 15-minute phone consultation.
What is included in the free consultation?
A 15-minute phone conversation to understand the evaluation you're seeking and determine whether we can provide it. No payment or records submission is required, and there is no obligation to book an evaluation. The call is not therapy, a diagnostic evaluation, a full records review or an opinion about the outcome of your claim. After the call, we confirm whether an evaluation is appropriate, whether clarification is needed, or whether the requested service is outside our scope.
How long is the evaluation appointment?
The evaluation session is 60 minutes and takes place by secure video. Records review and report preparation take place outside that appointment. If you would like to confirm whether our services fit your needs first, the free consultation is a 15-minute phone call.
Can you evaluate mental-health effects of physical conditions?
Yes, that can fall within our psychological evaluation services. Examples include questions about mental-health effects associated with tinnitus, chronic pain, knee problems or shoulder problems. The evaluation addresses the psychological referral question. We do not diagnose or evaluate the physical condition itself, and a relationship between conditions is not assumed or guaranteed.
Do you provide TBI or eating-disorder evaluations?
We do not provide TBI diagnosis, TBI assessment or evaluation of cognitive impairment attributed to TBI. If you have a history of TBI but want a separate mental-health evaluation, or are unsure how the concerns overlap, a free consultation is required first. Eating-disorder requests also require consultation before an evaluation can be scheduled.
What's the difference between this and a VA C&P exam?
A VA Compensation & Pension examination is part of the VA’s claim process. A private independent evaluation provides additional clinical evidence. It does not replace a VA examination when one is required. The VA makes the benefits decision.
What is a "nexus opinion," exactly?
A nexus opinion explains the evaluator’s clinical judgment about whether a condition is related to military service or an already service-connected condition, and the evidence and reasoning supporting that judgment. The conclusion is independent; a favorable opinion is not guaranteed.
Records and your report
Do I need records before getting started?
No records submission is required for a free consultation. For an evaluation, the records needed depend on the referral question. If you do not have relevant records or are unsure what is needed, choose a consultation so we can clarify the next step before paid scheduling. Use only the designated secure intake process for clinical records. Do not email medical records or sensitive health information.
How long does the process take?
Appointment availability varies. Your signed report is delivered securely within 5 business days after the interview and receipt of required records, forms, and follow-up information, except in unusual circumstances. If unusual circumstances delay the report, we will explain the delay and provide an updated expected delivery date. Please discuss any filing deadline with us before scheduling.
Who receives my records and report?
Use the designated secure intake process for clinical records. Do not email medical records or sensitive health information.
[XXX: Confirm evaluation confidentiality and its limits, authorized report recipients, and whether anything is sent directly to the VA]
Location eligibility
Which states can you evaluate clients in?
PSYPACT authorization is in progress. Evaluations will begin only after approval and verification of Dr. English’s authority to practice where you will be physically located.
Your location during the appointment matters. Eligibility depends on your physical location, rather than your mailing address.
Planned state coverage excludes California, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New York, and Oregon. This is a planning list, not current authorization.
Planning exclusions verified October 16, 2026. Washington, DC and territories require separate practice confirmation before scheduling. Coverage must be rechecked at launch.
Fees and appointment terms
What does this cost, and is it covered by insurance?
The full nexus evaluation and opinion costs $500 and includes records review, a 60-minute evaluation session, and a written report with an independent nexus opinion. A $100 reservation payment is credited toward the total, with the remaining $400 due before the session begins. Evaluations are private-pay. The 15-minute phone consultation is free, with no obligation to book an evaluation.
What does the 100% refund promise cover?
If we are unable to complete the evaluation you booked, you receive a 100% refund of your evaluation fee. This applies even if the inability to complete it becomes apparent after the evaluation has begun. If we can complete the evaluation, we proceed with an independent clinical opinion. A particular diagnosis, favorable opinion or benefits outcome is not guaranteed, and those results alone are not grounds for a refund.
What if I need to cancel or wake up sick?
Please give at least 24 hours' notice when canceling or rescheduling. If you become ill or something unexpected happens, contact us as soon as possible at (405) 456-9851. We do not charge a late-cancellation fee.
When does the $100 no-show fee apply?
Only if you miss your scheduled nexus evaluation without notifying us. The $100 reservation payment is the entire no-show fee, not an added charge. If you prepaid all $500, we retain $100 and refund the remaining $400.
If you cancel before the session, your appointment prepayment can be refunded or transferred to a rescheduled appointment. Free consultations have no cancellation or no-show fee.
